The value of stamps greatly dwells on the general condition they are in. Those that are in good shape tend to be more valuable as compared to those in not very good shape. This means therefore that they will require good care whether you are collecting them for philately use or just for the fun of it as everybody likes an album which is most attractive. The fact is that the important collectibles can easily be damaged especially because of the regular picking and changing hands. They are prone to collecting sweat and dirt aspects which can end up damaging them hence lessening their value and attractiveness. The natural aspects are however inevitable as they are normal.

Since there is no way you cans stop your hands from gathering dirt and sweating, it is only advisable to choose another way of handling the stamps you have collected. The best way that you can handle them without causing any damages to the sensitive paper is by using tongs. They are tweezers with blades that are sharpened at the ends making it easy to pick the stamps without causing any kind of damage. It is however important to note that the tongs come in different models hence differ greatly in terms of prices. The fancier the model you choose the more expensive it is bound to be. The model should however not matter provided the pair you go for can handle he stamps well without damaging them during picking.

When picking the stamps with the help of the tweezers, always ensure that you pick them towards the center applying only enough pressure to hold them securely hence making it possible to move them to your desired area. Picking them using excessive pressure will end up leaving marks on them or even damaging them which will be a waste. Also as a way of ensuring a clean handling process at all times, make a point of regularly cleaning your tongs. You can clean them using a small amount of a good dishwashing soap. They should then be dried to keep them in good shape. Ensure that your tongs are well dried before using them to pick the stamp collecting. It is not that hard to keep your stamps looking attractive thereby retaining their value provided you know how to handle them with care every time you need to move them from one place to another whether for study purpose or otherwise.
